Connecting transformative practitioners across the world
Member Cafe: Transformative Intervention in Uncertain Times
We invite you to this second ISCT Member Cafe on
October 29, 2025 at 2:00-3:30 pm EST/7:00-830CET
What is the value of Transformative Practice in contemporary times of polarity, isolation, and competition? How can the Institute best promote Transformative practices in this changing world and culture?
This conversation will focus on the ways in which Transformative skills and processes can be useful in activist environments.
In what ways, if any, can mediation and dialogue be of service to activist organizations and groups? How can we let activists know about the value we can add to their meetings and their planning?
As individuals and as practitioners, how can we support effective interaction across differences, especially within activist environments?
The first conversation was prompted in part by the essay, Transformative Dialogue in an Era of Constricting Civic Spaces by Jared Ordway. During that conversation we talked about the ways in which the conflict landscape has been changing and the challenges and/or opportunities this offered to us as Transformative practitioners.
The questions for our second conversation are informed by our notes from the first conversation and responses to the survey sent out after it. We consider them to be a starting place and will facilitate an open conversation that follows the lead of those who participate.
