Premises & Transformative Practice:  Revisiting our Foundation, with Judy Saul

The idea that purpose drives practice is central to our work as transformative practitioners.  But what keeps us true to our purpose?  That's where the premises come in.  They are our foundation. Several years ago, during the design of a transformative dialogue training, we realized that beliefs related to identity, power, culture and group interaction deserve to be as deeply rooted as our understanding of conflict and our belief in people’s capacity. 

Join Judy Saul as she discusses the original and revised version of our premises, why they were expanded and how they are relevant to all of us whether having a one-on-one conversation, mediating, facilitating a dialogue or coaching.  Then together we’ll explore how the premises directly affect our practice by sharing examples of choices made in response to an interaction and connecting those choices back to one or more of the premises.
